On May 18 we will release our fourth full-length album, titled Changing Lights (the last part in our 'light' trilogy, if you like). It will be available on blue vinyl and as a digital download - yes we know, if we were really modern it would have been available on cassette as well. You can listen to the the song Head in the music player, a video of the title track was made by Pim Christian.
Sadly, this is also our goodbye to Corno Zwetsloot, who engineered our records the last couple of years. He was already terribly ill during the sessions and died just a few months later, in November 2014. He was a fine engineer, a good friend, and an extraordinary human being.
Thanks for everything, Corno.
The last months we've been busy finishing the new album and rehearsing with our new drummer, Aletta Verwoerd.
After supporting King Champion Sounds in Leeuwarden (our first gig in almost a year!), we'll be playing in Amsterdam on April 11, followed by a tour through Germany and the Czech Republic (check the agenda for dates).
More info on the new record (to be released in May) coming soon...
From June 7-9 we recorded the basic tracks for our new album at Next to Jaap. Ten new songs, plus a cover of The Who's Circles and an electric re-make of My Instincts (released last year on a 7"). Overdubbing and mixing will be done in the coming weeks, so the record should be finished before the summer holidays!
Labasheeda will be touring the UK again in March. We are playing in London, Glasgow, Preston, York, Sheffield, and Bornemouth (see agenda for details).
After that we will be recording a couple of songs with Corno Zwetsloot at the Next to Jaap studio for our new album.
From December 9 our new 7" is available, featuring the Yoko Ono cover Listen, the Snow Is Falling, a mellow version of Black Blood, plus three new songs. The EP is released in a numbered edition of 200 copies on snow white (well, sort of) vinyl.
And last not least Labasheeda will be playing at the Christmas Stomp festival in Paradiso on the 23rd, also featuring a reunion gig of Arne's former band The Chimney Brothers, among others.
Next week we'll be on a six day tour through France with Bas Snabilie on drums (see agenda for details). In December there will be some more gigs in the Netherlands, plus the release of a 7" containing five news songs which we recorded last Summer. Stay tuned.
From September 19 till 29 Labasheeda will be back in tour, doing gigs in no less than four countries: France, Italy, Switzerland, and Belgium - see agenda for details.
This summer, Sergio Gridelli shot a video for the song 'Cars' (from Castfat Shadows). It is now finished and can be seen on YouTube or the video section of this site. Cheers!
This afternoon (between 16.00-17.00 h.) Saskia & Arne will appear on the radio program 'Songwriters Guild Live' (AmsterdamFM, 106.8 FM). The recording takes place at the Open- bare Bibliotheek Amsterdam, so everybody's welcome to watch the performance.
And this Saturday (August 25) Labasheeda will be playing in the full line-up with The Sugarettes at Roodkapje in Rotterdam.
We've just arrived back from the tour yesterday.
Besides five regular gigs we also did two radio sessions in Prague featuring Saskia on acoustic guitar and Erwin drumming on a cardboard box. You can listen to the April 30 session for Radio Wave here.
UPDATE: the StreetCulture session from April 27 is now online as well.
Our new full-length release, Castfat Shadows, is available from April 16. The album is released on transparent green vinyl and as a digital download - no CD this time (yep, the times they are a-changin' indeed). You can listen to two of the new tracks in the music player.
The split 7" with Wavezero is delayed a bit, but will be released in the near future.
Currently test pressings are being made of not only one, but two new Labasheeda records: the full-length Castfat Shadows (planned for April) and a split 7" with Wavezero. The 7" will be released in March, and contains the song 'Liver Spots', which will not be on the LP. Stay tuned.
The second volume of the Love No Love compilation will feature the track 'Winter' by Labasheeda (previously released on The Twilight State). 100% of the album sales benefit groups working against domestic abuse and assault. The double CD will be released on December 28 in an edition of 300 numbered copies. Check The Levee Breaking for more information.
Labasheeda will be on tour in Germany from November 3-8 (also doing a gig in Prague), check the agenda for more details. Due circumstances Dyan will be replaced by Assi Weitz (Sophya, Sex Dolls, ex-Gone Bald) during the tour. Also joining us are André (driving, visuals, record sales) and Brutus (barking).
By the way, the new record is mixed and will be mastered in the near future. More news soon...
The last three days of July we’ve been busy recording with Corno Zwetsloot at the Next to Jaap Studio in Voorhout. We recorded the basic tracks of 15 new songs, which we plan to release on an album later this year.
The Noise Problems blogspot posted six songs from our gig at The Beginner Festival (which took place at De Nieuwe Anita, Amsterdam on March 5). You can listen to part of Jelle Buma's set as well.

On Tippy Toes / Withdrawn / Relax-her* / Fake Italian / Last Ride / Copycat Emotions
From February 16 till 20 Labasheeda will do a 5-day tour in the UK.
We will be playing in London, Swindon, Newport, Chichester, and Nottingham - check the agenda for more details.
After a bit of delay, the CD-version of The Twilight State is now available as well!
And don't forget to check the video-section, which now includes two more videos from our tour in the Czech Republic, last June.
The vinyl version of the long expected new Labasheeda full-length is now available! Check the discography for details. The CD will be released in October (in a nice kraftpak sleeve).
Two songs from the forthcoming record are now featured in the music player: 'From You to Me' and 'Way Out'. The LP version of The Twilight State (on white/pink marbled vinyl!) will be released on September 20 (the CD will follow later).
The new Labasheeda site is finally online! We've also finished our new record, titled The Twilight State, which will be released in September.
